Why can't Trump's supporters grasp how BAD tariffs are for American business? Are they hopelessly incurious? The phrase willful ignorance comes to the forefront. Trump himself is incapable of admitting he can be wrong - are his supporters too proud to admit they made a terrible mistake?
Tariffs killed my business. I've lost count of the number of times I've heard the casual remark "The tariffs are working and I have no problem with them as a policy." Idiots who have no clue how things really work. (Screaming into my pillow again.)
In 2024, the Biden administration enacted significant new tariffs on $18 billion of Chinese imports, targeting strategic sectors like electric vehicles (100% rate), lithium-ion batteries, solar cells, and semiconductors “to counter unfair trade practices”.
Why didn’t everyone against tariffs ever yell about how bad tariffs are back then? Why are you picking and choosing?
For the record, the US is way down the list when it comes to the countries who have placed the most tariffs.
Government shouldn’t exist at all, so the point is not that tariffs are ok; the point is that being fine with tariffs when “your” guy does it but against them when the other guy wins reveals hypocrisy. It’s the kind of character flaw that destroys one’s credibility.
Okay l have to say this....I am tired of people like "Chance" saying they are a conservative when they go along and support someone who pushes no conservative beliefs. I voted conservatively 95% of the time and saw the threat in 2016. I was not so attached that l voted automatically. Or did things blindly. Nope..l studied and paid attention to the issues. Until the Trump supporters back up and say we fucked up, no sympathy for them. I faced the same choices Chance had. So did many other people here. When pressured we stood up and acted appropriately. This disaster is not on our shoulders but in part it rests on the shoulders of the "Chances" of the world. End rant.
My neighbor who is a single mom and homeowner lost her import job running a warehouse storing and delivering imported products for business. Companies closed due to impossible costs caused by tariffs. Warehouse became empty. The town she worked in lost the tax base of the warehouse, along with the other warehouse employees and all the tuckers who used to run overtime loading and delivering product. My neighbor now works for $15 an hour with no insurance for herself and family. We sure all are winning with the dumb orange head cheese in office. And I agree, the MAGA heads will still back him at any cost! Includes his crooked administration and the Congress and Senators of the GOP and Fetterman. I just can’t deal with the stupidity. It’s over whelming.
