Thank you for all that you do for your students and for this world. It is horrifying to watch what this current administration is doing. It’s a feeling of sadness and helplessness. This is why I am involved in as many groups as possible to shut this circus down and take back our country. The fight is not over yet. And if we are going to prevail, every single one of us will need to fight to keep our democracy and throw all the evil ones in jail where they belong. Keep fighting ✊✊✊✊✊
I think most struggling taxpayers want to know that their contributions are being used responsibly. When you read about the billions of government dollars spent annually we want to know that there is no redundancy and/or waste. I read constantly looking for just such assurances. I don't find any and certainly not in this article.
You're right. There needs to be more transparency and education about how this money is used and why. Those of us who dig deep know that the benefits outweigh the costs of these things. However, Misinformation and the redundant hammering of the "wasteful spending" message is dominating.
These budding scientists should also know that there are “safe harbors” overseas; I’ve heard that countries like France are welcoming U.S. scientists suffering from this authoritarian administration’s “brain drain” project…. That work-around may help limit the destruction of the state of U.S. research & development —until there’s a day when it’s safe to return.
Your informative article highlights the unfortunate “three strikes you’re out” with the Trump administration and is contrary to our democracy. 1. Science is not recognized or supported. 2. “Gifted students, like other groups in DEI are being excluded 3. The current regime is waging a war on education—erasing history, censoring classrooms, intimidating educators, and dismantling programs that encourage critical thinking. They know an informed, questioning public is harder to control; knowledge is feared because knowledge is power.
