The good people of America will follow the good people of Minnesota, and resist fascism and tyranny. But there are still many MAGA and 🍊💩 sycophants out there… I still believe there are more real Americans who are kind and ethical and care about each other. The 90 million people who didn’t vote must wake up and do their part if we want to save democracy - but, if they do, all of us together can prevent fascism from destroying our USA.
It will take time and determination - they will try to wear us down and frighten us into surrender. More innocent people will probably die. More lives destroyed. They want widespread fear. We cannot falter - but we also cannot give him the excuse he wants to declare insurrection. (he is determined to somehow prevent the election - to cancel voting, because he knows he will lose..).
It will be a devastating report card - and he cannot handle accountability. He’s gonna do everything he can think of to stay in power and out of jail - he will throw friends under the bus, create diversionary crises, attack other nations, nukes - anything. He seems absolutely capable of throwing the entire country under the bus to save his own ass. He is a very dangerous threat to the entire planet).
MAGA doesn’t understand what makes America great - they are unqualified judges of greatness. Many real Americans would gladly trade every MAGA hater for a hard-working immigrant who wants to contribute to society instead of glom off it. MAGA does not get to decide what skin colors or beliefs are okay, and which are not.

My book club is reading The Listening Society. The book claims we are at a crossroads; one leads to fascism, the other to a more caring society. It aim is a: "Deliberately and carefully cultivate a deeper kind of welfare system that includes the psychological, social and emotional aspects of human beings, so that the average person, over the length of her lifespan, becomes much more secure, authentic and happy (in a deep, meaningful sense of the word)." We think that Minnesota and other states pushing back against this cruel tyranny are working towards a gradual evolution towards a caring, listening society.
