Thank you sir. My husband died of cancer caused by Agent Orange after serving in Vietnam. He was only 53.

Yes, thank you for your service. Here is my take on the Arch…

A Triumphal Arch?

Trump’s Triumphal Arch if built

at two hundred fifty feet tall

would dwarf its Parisian namesake and block

the view of the South from the Mall

the Confederate side of the Bridge t’would rise

to shutter Abe Lincoln’s gaze

of the Arlington House of Robert E. Lee

that once was built by slaves

and that of Arlington National where

an ocean of white attests

to battles that ended the bondage of blacks

putting thirty-four states to the test

another display of vanity

another slap in the face

from a man who’s rewriting a nation’s past

to reverse its progress on race

Eloquently written, and thank you for your service. I come from a Navy family- father, uncles, cousins and brothers-in-law, and a son who was shipboard during Desert Storm, who echoes that the oath to protect and defend against enemies both foreign and domestic had no expiration date. It’s un-American to put monuments to yourself all over the place, treat the White House like it’s your own house that you are free to remodel however you like, and the Arch de Trump would ruin the respectful, quiet ambiance of Arlington. Its honored dead are of all services and ranks, not self-aggrandizing.

Linda, I also come from a Navy family…father, brother, uncles and cousins. In 1942, my father enlisted at age 15 after getting into trouble. My G-Ma could not speak English, so she showed the judge pictures of my uncles already serving. She made her “mark” on the dotted line and he proudly served our Country for 25 years during WWII and Korea.

That monstrocity looks like it is from Hitlers Germany, just what Trump exemplifies, Fascism.

So very clear and heartfelt. And right. There are some amongst us that demand that any presidential candidate for the 2028 election must promise yo destroy all of fhe horrendous monuments he built just for his ego. I tend to agree, except maybe refit the ballroom to house homeless vets or something like that. Ths arc must be turned into rubbls.

Ronn, I hear you, and as a Vietnam Vet, I too feel your words deeply. But one or two voices will accomplish nothing. Where is the outrage from other Vets and active service? Where are the demonstrations in Washington? Not to be nasty or oppositionist, but remember the old adage. Tals is cheap. We need action from many groups against this administration.

The prospect of this thing is so disgusting to me as a civilian citizen, but it breaks my heart to think of what this means for a veteran. I'm just so very sorry. Enough is enough.

Thank you for your service! And yes, this art de Trump is an abomination! My father & father-in-law who both were a World War II Vets would be absolutely disgusted if they were alive to see that being done!! My father-in-law landed on the beaches in Anzio to fight fascism and he would be disgusted to see that!! And the few living World War II vets I’m sure, are just as disgusted as are all true Americans to see what he has done to patriotism and being an American!! I know as an American we will get through this, but I hope to God when he is out of office everything that he has put his name on, that he has built to honor him and him alone, not America, is torn down to the ground, and if he’s remembered at all, he has to be remembered as the worst president of all time!!! Hopefully we can get the respect of the world back because right now the world does not respect us or like us and I do not blame them one little bit!! We are being governed by a bunch of clowns who don’t know what they’re doing and it is not just disgusting and downright dangerous, It’s scary as hell!!

I totally agree. All of the things he's doing to glorify himself are disgusting.

Thank you. I did not have the privilege to serve. I've held nothing but contempt for Trump and I cannot imagine the level of disdain you carry for that worhless poser that never should have been allowed within 100 miles of the White House.

Amen! The propaganda is thick enough to cut with a knife. As a former UN official and now a human rights professor, I especially hate the way they twist intl law and the rules of war provisions. To counter this I created a citizen’s guide so we can arm ourselves with the truth. Visit and download! https://shalyn8.substack.com/p/understanding-the-rules-of-war-a
