Great summary on the state of our now fascist country -I can guess some of the people that are behind this-it’s obvious the orange monster isn’t mentally capable of carrying this off by himself-Seriously doubt he could run a lemonade stand-

Probably take years if not decades if ever to get this place back on the democratic path-

If only we could blame Trump and when he is gone so will our troubles. The events of the last week up to our VP calling for persecution of perceived enemies shows he is just a figurehead. The power they have been trying to wield for fifty years in in their reach and once they have it we will be wishing Trump was still in charge. His only vision is making money and staying out of jail. His enablers have much grimmer plans.

Not suggesting an active conspiracy, just an observation:

Now that Trump has secured all this additional power for the presidency, and all the extraordinary content & funding (inc $4 trillion more in debt authorization) in the Big Beautifull Bill, not much more is needed.

At some point, maybe not far from here, Trump will become a liability, an indisciplined lame duck who makes too many stupid mistakes. If you're JD Vance (Peter Thiel) you want to run as an incumbent in '28, pledging to carry the torch for the tragically fallen greatest president this country has ever known.

The simple truth is that Donald Trump is a criminal and needs to be arrested. That is the simple truth we will continue to stumble over until he is arrested. Anyone who signs on to his program is signing on to his criminality. Criminals are not held accountable by the norms they violate. People who are still part of those norms are the only ones that suffer. He will continue to breach norms until he is locked up.

Amen. A perfect summary, and pledge to keep our eyes on the ball, demonstrate everyday courage, and see this through until the time comes to pass the baton.

It is extraordinary to discover where the real common ground lies. The author worked for Ed Meese! Like George Conway, who was long a golden child of the Federalist Society and legal Right, we see eye-to-eye. Whatever other differences pale in comparison with the preservation of the opportunity to continue the American experiment.

There is no “ostensibly” about it

trump has his armed goons on the streets here to innure the people to what comes next .

It’s sickening to see.

I've taken down the list. My error. He should not have been on the list, for sure. G. Soro's is not a threat to democracy. He's been a strong supporter of democracy & a worldwide philanthropist. He has been outspoken against 47th calling him an "imposter", against Facebook & Google for their monopolies. Thank you for bringing this forward for a correction.

This must be particularly grating for you as a former Deputy Solicitor General, to see who now fills the USSG position. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D._John_Sauer HIGHLIGHTS: "In 2015, Sauer defended a priest accused of sexually abusing children [&] helped the priest sue his accusers & the police officers ... involved. Prosecutors had dropped all charges against the priest, & the priest's record has since been fully expunged." In "2024, he represented former president Donald Trump in oral arguments before a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit regarding the issue of presidential immunity..." As USSG, in 2025, "he asked [SCOTUS to include DOGE as a "presidential advisory body" within the Executive Office of the President.
